Over the years, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has taken a particular interest in responsible gambling, commissioning many studies and implementing many tools for gamblers. One such tool, PlayMyWay, debuted at Encore Boston Harbor on Monday.
Encore Boston Harbor latest casino to embrace PlayMyWay
Already implemented at MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park, PlayMyWay is a voluntary budgetary tool available on all electronic slot and video poker machines. Anyone with a loyalty card at one of these properties can monitor the amount of money they send and easily set limits to curb or stop play.
“Encore Boston Harbor has collaborated with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health, and GameSense, to develop responsible gaming strategies since day one,” said Encore Bost Harbor President Jenny Holaday. “PlayMyWay is a natural extension of those efforts, empowering our guests with new technology to proactively manage their playing decisions.”
GameSense platform extends beyond PlayMyWay
PlayMyWay is a part of the larger MGC responsible gaming framework, GameSense. This comprehensive program helps patrons gamble more responsibly and aids with the treatment of those dealing with problem gambling. Originated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation all the way back in 2009, it is also used by MGM Resorts casino properties, the Connecticut Lottery, and others.
Providing players with all the necessary information and resources available will help them make well informed decisions about their gambling, including when to stop and how much to spend,” said Mark Vander Linden, MGC’s Director of Research and Responsible Gaming. “PlayMyWay supports informed player choice by giving people the opportunity to set a budget before they begin, and then reinforcing that decision through the gambling session. We’re thrilled that this tool is now available at each Massachusetts casino.”
PlayMyWay now a statewide program across all casinos
The PlayMyWay program debuted at Plainridge Park in 2016 and was introduced at MGM Springfield earlier this year. The program has 32,000 enrolled patrons in the state across the two casinos so far.
“Responsible gaming is always front of mind in all the work we do at the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, and PlayMyWay is another tool to help patrons keep their gambling safe and fun,” said MGC Chair Cathy Judd-Stein. “Encore Boston Harbor has embraced this program as a tool that can help their customers. The launch of PlayMyWay at Encore Boston Harbor marks a completion of the MGC’s goal of offering a uniform platform for slot machine players to set a budget and track their play at any Massachusetts casino.”
