DraftKings has unveiled its latest responsible gambling initiative titled Practice Safe Bets, featuring celebrity talent including skateboarder Tony Hawk and wrestler The Miz.
Marking the American Gaming Association’s Responsible Gaming Education Month, the campaign will feature two television commercials that emphasize the importance of responsible gambling and the tools available on the DraftKings app.
Airing on radio and TV across the US, the ad spots are inspired by the 1990s ‘The More You Know’ public service announcements and use Tony Hawk’s helmet and kneepads to represent time limits and deposit limits on the DraftKings app. Moreover, The Miz is wearing a metallic costume which DraftKing states represents that it is ‘cool to cool-off- from wagering.
“Responsible gaming advertising is a tremendous opportunity to reach DraftKings players in a fun and educational way,” said Stephanie Sherman, DraftKings Chief Marketing Officer.
“We chose The Miz and Tony Hawk for the Practice Safe Bets campaign because of their extensive fan bases and because their personalities will break through the noise to reinforce why using responsible gaming tools is so important.”
The launch of Practice Safe Bets coincides with DraftKings’ promotion of its ‘It’s More Fun When It’s For Fun’ RG tagline and the AGA’s ‘Have A Game Plan’ RG initiative.
It also comes as part of the company’s SERVES CSR program which stands for Service, Equity, Responsible Gaming, Vitality, Entrepreneurship, and Sports.
Finally, to mark RGEM during September, DraftKings will offer a free-to-play pool, allowing eligible customers to test their knowledge of RG tools.
