PointsBet has appointed Edward Hartman as its new Group Chief Strategy Officer, effective September 6.

Reporting to Group CEO, Sam Swanell, Hartman will lead the group’s strategy and work with PointsBet’s global leadership team and directors board to manage the group’s strategy and vision, pinpoint new opportunities, and bolster its operations.

“We are very pleased that a Senior Executive of Edward’s quality and experience is joining PointsBet,” Swanell said on Hartman’s appointment.

“With more than two decades of corporate and operational development experience in capital markets, media and wagering, I’m confident that his strategic insights will help maximize PointsBet’s success in our ongoing growth.”

Before joining PointsBet, Hartman most recently served as the Executive Vice President of  Business Operations at the United States Football League. He was also the Senior Vice President of Digital Partnerships & Wagering at FOX Sports.

Hartman has also previously been the SVP of Corporate Development at Fox Corporation, the SVP of Mergers & Acquisitions at News Corp, and the Managing Director at global investment management firm Caledonia. He has also spent over ten years with UBS.

Commenting on his appointment, Hartman stated: “PointsBet has quickly established a tremendous competitive position in its core global markets. The business has incredibly strong operating momentum and a world-class team of people behind it.

“I am humbled and excited to have the opportunity to help drive PointsBet’s strategic priorities, particularly in the very fast-growing North American market. I look forward to working with Sam and the broader management team.”

Back in July, PointsBet published its Q4 and FY22 financial results, reporting year-over-year gains in sports betting turnover/handle and total net win across both measuring periods, both as a group and in the US.

The operator also highlighted the progress it has made in Ontario since launching its sports betting and igaming offerings in the Canadian province when it went live in April.
