SBC Media has bolstered its coverage of the Americas, and made a notable investment into the future of its SBC Americas news portal, by appointing former Bally’s Interactive Director of Content, Jessica Welman, as Editor.
Welman joins SBC at a crucial time in the betting industry in North America, with more than 30 US states having legalised sports betting and Canada having made legislative changes that pave the way for provinces to launch regulated markets.
Joining from Bally’s Interactive, where she served as Director of Content, Welman previously spent four years at Catena Media, and has Managing Editor roles at WSOP.com and PlayPennsylvania.com under her belt, from her time at Caesars Interactive and Catena Media respectively. Welman brings experience in editorship in fast-moving, 24-7 industries, and becomes SBC Americas’ first US-based editorial lead.
Welman, who has more than a decade of experience in the gaming industry, is the latest hire in a vast recruitment drive by the media and events company, which has hired more than 20 new team members since the turn of the year.
SBC Managing Director Andrew McCarron said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jessica to the team. It’s a massive coup for SBC and we look forward to adding Jessica’s ideas, experience and enthusiasm to our already industry-leading news coverage.”
Welman said: “Having been aware of the company for a while, I’m excited to be joining SBC and in particular to grow the SBC Americas brand. I’m keen to bring my passion for industry coverage to SBC, and help add to their footprint and reputation in the Americas.”
Launched in 2018, SBC Americas is a leading news website reporting the biggest stories from the betting and gaming world in North and Latin America. It is part of the SBC Media network of 10 news portals, which also features SBC News, the Spanish-language SBC Noticias, CasinoBeats, PaymentExpert, and the video-focused GamblingTV.
Welman will be representing SBC Media at the upcoming SBC Summit North America at the Meadowlands in New Jersey, from July 12-14th.
