Digital payments provider Sightline Payments has appointed Shannon Nadeau and Larry Whelan to be the new directors of its compliance and risk departments, respectively.

Both Nadeau and Whelan bring decades of experience to Sightline from well-respected gaming companies and institutions such as the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Wynn Resorts, Shuffle Master, MGM Resorts International, and Penn National Gaming.

“The additions of Shannon Nadeau and Larry Whelan further bolster Sightline’s best-in-class efforts across risk, compliance, and licensing,” said Jennifer Carleton, Sightline’s Chief Legal Officer.

“Their decades of gaming compliance enhances Sightline’s continued ability to offer payments innovations safely and securely.”

As Sightline’s new Director of Regulatory and Licensing Compliance, Nadeau will oversee licensing as the payments provider expands into new markets. She will also help advance responsible gaming initiatives and grow industry-wide payments innovation by working with regulators.

Nadeau previously worked as the Executive Director of Global Compliance for Wynn Resorts. She began her gaming career with the Nevada Gaming Control Board more than two decades ago and has also served in compliance roles with IGT and Shuffle Master.

While at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Nadeau earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communications and Criminal Justice. She is also a Certified Compliance & Ethical Professional (CCEP) as issued by the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics.

Commenting on her appointment, Nadeau said: “As digital payment options become more prevalent in US casinos, we must ensure regulators understand how payments fit within the broader gaming industry.

“I’m excited to join the Sightline team and their expanding team of experts from across the gaming and payments industries.”

As Sightline’s new Director of Risk, Whelan will oversee the company’s risk management division, anti-money laundering efforts, and fraud prevention activities. He will be responsible for monitoring the millions of transactions that occur annually across Sightline’s more than 1.5 million cardholders while also managing the provider’s risk team.

With a career in gaming spanning almost 30 years, Whelan’s most recent role was Vice President of Compliance for Interblock Gaming. He has also held leadership roles at Wynn Resorts, Penn National Gaming, Station Casinos, Caesars, and MGM Resorts International. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from UNLV.

Whelan said on his appointment: “I’ve seen firsthand how Sightline’s innovations have modernized payments within the gaming industry, and I’m thrilled to play an integral role in helping the company grow.

“I now enjoy a 360-degree view of risk and anti-money laundering in gaming, from the operator through the platform to the supplier.”
