Sportsbooks powered by SBTech are to resume operations as early as today as the company continues to respond to a cyber attack that resulted in all the betting technology provider’s data centres going offline over the weekend.
The attack did not result in a data breach, SBC understands.
The more than 50 sportsbooks reliant on the provider were taken offline last Friday night and Saturday morning after the early detection of a serious cyber attack via the SBTech monitoring systems.
Since then, SBTech client betting operations, including those run in Europe by 10Bet, Bethard, Betway, Mansion, NetBet and VirginBet, have carried a maintenance message.
BetAmerica, the Churchill Downs brand powered by SBTech in the US was also affected, along with the Oregon Lottery Scoreboard product.
The threat itself has been addressed and SBC understands criminal investigations have been launched across a number of jurisdictions, including in the US.
SBTech is continuing the process of relaunching with each of its clients, with many now in the final stages and undergoing UAT (user acceptance tests).
SBC also understands that SBTech is also working closely with a number of regulators as part of the launch process as it seeks approval to fully restore service as quickly as possible.
With betting markets currently severely impacted by the global Covid-19 outbreak, revenue losses for SBTech clients appear to have been minimal.
