Massachusetts regulator reappoints Maynard

Jordan Maynard was reappointed as commissioner and chair of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission by Gov. Maura Healey and Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell.

Maynard will continue to help lead Massachusetts’s gaming regulator following his appointment as a commissioner in 2022. Two years later, he was assigned the role of interim chair before his eventual transition to full-time chair. Before joining the regulator, Maynard had a three-year stint in various positions for the state’s Office of the Governor.

“The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is the model gaming regulatory agency in the country because of the dedicated staff and my fellow commissioners,” said Maynard.

“I look forward to continuing this work and addressing the ongoing efforts to maintain the strongest consumer and player protections”.

Maynard’s reappointment as a commissioner marks his second five-year term in the role.

IGA adds new faces to leadership team

The Indian Gaming Association (IGA) added a new member to its leadership team following the unexpected passing of Chairman Ernie Stevens Jr. last September.

IGA has appointed Tehassi Hill as chairman, replacing interim chair David Bean, who stepped in after the death of Stevens Jr. Hill joins the IGA leadership team as the active chairman of the Oneida Nation. He was elected following a competitive voting process.

IGA also has a new treasure. Members of the association elected Michell Hicks as treasurer, who will replace Denise Harvey. Hicks brings a wealth of tribal expertise to the role as the principal chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He also has more than 30 years of experience in finance as a certificated public accountant.
