Quixant: enabling success today while anticipating the needs of the future

Eddie Ho, Director – Gaming Hardware at Quixant, explains why a recent solution introduction not only solves a multitude of obstacles OEMs and game developers face, but raises the bar for all-in-one gaming platforms,

Speaking to SBC Americas, he details how the IQON 3 will enable customers to succeed in the present day, and empower them to sustain a competitive, future-ready presence in the global gambling industry of tomorrow.

SBC Americas: What gaps in the industry, or potential failings, were identified when undertaking the development of IQON 3?

Eddie Ho: Our development of the IQON 3 was driven by a number of industry-level gaps and pain points.

Firstly, we identified a number of performance limitations within legacy platforms, which were being pushed to their limits by the increasing demands of graphics, multi-screen displays, higher frame-rates and more immersive features. Recognising that next generation gaming experiences require far greater power, we designed the IQON 3 to rise to the challenge, delivering more than double the performance of its predecessor.

Game developers also face limitations in integration and flexibility, as many existing hardware platforms in gaming cabinets were designed for much narrower use-cases. These legacy systems often lack the I/O, display support, mounting versatility and future-proofing that OEMs and designers now require.

The IQON 3 offers up to four 4K UltraHD displays, enhanced I/O (32 digital inputs and outputs), and a fanless rugged design suited for demanding cabinet environments.

Furthermore, developers are facing increasing lifecycle and supply-chain risks. In an ever evolving hardware market, where components shift rapidly, customers risk their platforms becoming obsolete or unsupported, we offer an assurance of a 10-year supply lifetime for IQON 3.

The gaming industry is also witnessing an increase in regulation globally, with GLI-11 compliance being a commonly adhered to standard, and markets have varied form-factors and environmental demands.

The IQON 3 effectively addresses these compliance needs, and is built to ensure regulatory compliance across global gaming markets.

The final point concerns the time it takes to get games to market and the cost of design overheads. OEMs and game developers spend considerable time on hardware and software integration rather than on the content and player experience development, the aspects of the game that define their success.

By providing a powerful, ready-integrated hardware and software solution, we aim to minimise this investment for our customers, and enable them to focus on content and their points of difference.

In short: the gaps were around performance headroom, integration flexibility, lifecycle stability, regulatory/global coverage, and time-to-market and development cost. The IQON 3 was designed with those things in mind, and not just to meet them, but to succeed and future proof.

SBCA: How will this enable clients across the gaming and sports betting landscapes to remain competitive today while also being ready for the challenges of tomorrow?

EH: The IQON 3 is able to address both current competitiveness and future-readiness in a number of critical ways.

Addressing the first aspect, we give our customers the power they require to deploy high performing, visually rich, graphically compelling games or kiosks, in addition to enabling the development of immersive cabinet designs, which are differentiated and stand out to the end-player in a populated gaming environment.

Our integrated software suite with essential and enhanced features means our customers do not have to build these aspects from scratch, and can focus their efforts on content and the player experience.

In casinos where machines are constantly on and gameplay is 24/7, reliability matters. The fanless, rugged design of the IQON 3 means less downtime, less maintenance and fewer disruptions to revenue generating games.

The demands of tomorrow are also key. As memory standards evolve, this solution is DDR5-ready, and offers up to 64 GB memory at 5600 MT/s, which prepares customers for next-gen game engines and increasingly demanding games and graphics.

Longevity of hardware is also key in the gaming world. Our 10-year support and supply commitment gives our customers reassurance that their solutions have an extended lifetime and their investment will not become obsolete quickly.

Moreover, flexible I/O architecture means as new peripherals, display types, or sensors emerge the platform can adapt to these technologies and requirements, while enabling expansion into multiple global jurisdictions as the platform is built with major global gaming jurisdictions in mind.

This all means that IQON 3 customers can launch compelling games now, and it is architected in a way that enables them to get ahead of hardware, regulatory, and experience demand evolution.

SBCA: In what ways would you say that you are the future-proof choice for potential clients when compared to competitors?

EH: The IQON 3 and our wider offering is the future proofed option to alternative providers due to:

  • Scalable performance baseline. Because the hardware uses very recent architectures (Zen 4, integrated GPU) and is DDR5-ready, it is a platform built for the next wave of content rather than just incremental improvement and the current market standards.
  • Longevity and supply certainty. The 10-year supply lifetime is a real differentiator. Many hardware platforms are built with shorter lifecycle expectations, meaning clients may face early obsolescence or forced redesigns.
  • Broad integration and flexibility. The ability to support up to four 4K displays, 32 digital inputs and outputs, LED controller interfaces, plus custom I/O options means fewer compromises for designers; this reduces the risk of being locked into a limited or inflexible platform.
  • Software and hardware integration. As we enhance our hardware with our integrated Software Suite solutions, there is less demand on our customers to integrate, certify and optimise their hardware, giving them a head-start compared to competitors who may just provide hardware and leave the development and integration of software to their customers or third parties.
  • Globally compliant solutions. With design attention to global gaming market compliance, the platform supports customers who may seek geographic expansion, not just those operating in single markets.
  • Upgrade path and backward compatibility. The IQON 3 is backward compatible with earlier IQON models, enabling easier transitions and reducing redesign cost and risk.

All of this means that customers choosing the IQON 3 are not just buying for today’s specsheet, but are investing in a platform that minimises future risk, providing one that they can build upon for future developers, rather than need to replace.

Quixant will always be focused on the gaming market, so we stay close to the market trends, requirements and evolve our solutions ahead of the curve. In markets where hardware redesigns are costly due to certification, supply chain and integration, these are meaningful differentiators.

SBCA: With the IQON 3 showcased at G2E 2025 earlier in the year is this primarily targeted towards North America, or do you have more global aspirations?

EH: The target for the IQON 3 is a truly global audience, but North America is a key region. We are proud to hold a strong local presence across our stronghold of North America, but we have received interest in the IQON 3 across all major gaming markets — from North America and Europe to Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Furthermore, the U.S. route, amusement, and coin-op markets are very much in focus, and we are reinforcing our presence across Latin America and EMEA.

The IQON 3 platform is designed for use in multiple geographies, and for multiple gaming-markets around the world, such as casino, route/amusement, kiosks, VLT.

SBCA: Beyond this, what does Quixant have up its sleeve to enable clients to continue creating memorable player experiences so that they keep coming back for more?
