Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has chosen William Hill Nevada to juice up the Silver State’s largest sportsbook.
The resort announced it has selected Caesars Digital’s William Hill Nevada to take control of its retail sportsbook. As part of the partnership, the new operator will bring an updated and expanded betting menu and add more 24/7 wagering kiosks at the site. The off-Strip, 1,500-room hotel has a 60,000 sq. ft. casino and sportsbook on its grounds.
William Hill will not only manage in-person betting but also introduce mobile sports wagering to the destination’s guests through its app, meaning that bettors could use the off-Strip location as a base for mobile betting.
“We are grateful to partner with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and launch a William Hill Sportsbook at the property,” said Dan Shapiro, William Hill SVP and chief development officer. “Our sports betting product offering in Nevada stands apart and will help attract new guests to the property as we work closely with the Virgin team.
“For the first time, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas guests will be able to sign up for mobile sports betting via the William Hill Nevada app and make cash transactions on-site, delivering a seamless experience.”
William Hill brings gambling and sporting clout
Virgin Hotels had been looking for a new partner as its previous sportsbook operator, Betfred, completed a staggered withdrawal from the U.S. market this year.
The hotel’s President, Cliff Atkinson, said that putting its sportsbook in hands of William Hill and Caesars Digital will “elevate” its offering. Not only is William Hill the largest sportsbook operator in Nevada, it is an official betting partner of the NFL and the NHL and the league’s respective Las Vegas teams, the Raiders and the Golden Knights.
“William Hill is the right strategic partner for us given its track record of providing an unmatched retail and mobile sports betting experience in Nevada,” he added. “This transition allows us to redefine our sportsbook and align it more closely with the dynamic energy and innovation synonymous with our resort.”
Caesars Entertainment paid around $4 billion to buy William Hill in 2021 and rolled the U.S. operations into its own sportsbook before selling the British brand’s international operations to 888 Holdings in 2022. Nevada is the only state in which the William Hill brand name is used. Caesars offers mobile sports betting under both brands and there are also several William Hill brick-and-mortar sportsbooks at Vegas casinos that are not operated by Caesars.
No exact timeline was given for William Hill taking over the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas sportsbook, and the handover needs to be approve dby the Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board. But the companies said the revamped and rebranded sportsbook will open later this year.
