Scientific Games has rolled out its SCiQ retail gambling technology with the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL).
The move is part of the NCEL’s focus on improving the retail environment for its scratch-fff games, with Scientific Games set to deploy 1,000 SCiQ units at lottery retailers across the Old North State.
“We commend the NCEL team for its clear vision on the need for technology that improves how Scratch-Off games are managed and sold in stores,” said VP of Retail Solutions for Scientific Games Michael Martin.
“Scientific Games is thrilled to add more value to our instant game partnership with NCEL through SCiQ, and we look forward to working with NCEL retailers to make selling Scratch-Off games as easy and efficient as possible.”
These units offer real-time scratch game inventory management data, based on Scientific Games’ SCiTrak predictive ordering system.
The NCEL will use the products with the aim of improving its supply chain and improving scratch card sales, which play a critical role in the lottery’s overall trading and financial performance.
According to its own figures, scratch-off games made up over $2.9 billion of the NCEL’s retail sales across the fiscal year 2024. The lottery also hopes that the integration will support customer engagement, with players able to use the SCiQ digital displays for updated details on available games.
“We’re excited to bring SCiQ to our retailers throughout the state, providing them with a streamlined way to manage and sell NCEL Scratch-Off games in their stores,” added NCEL CEO and Executive Director Mark Michalko.
This is the latest deal in the U.S. for Scientific Games with the company having signed new deals or renewed existing ones with the state lotteries of New Mexico, Kansas, Iowa and Florida so far this year.
