The U.S. market-leading sports betting platform FanDuel Sportsbook is now available in Puerto Rico.
The Flutter-owned company announced on Thursday that FanDuel Sportsbook is now available online and via mobile in the unincorporated U.S. territory. FanDuel also unveiled the opening of a new retail sportsbook in partnership with CAGE Sports in San Juan.
Puerto Rico is the 24th state or territory where FanDuel offers mobile sports betting.
Puerto Rico Gaming Commission Interim Director Juan Santaella said last May that there were six licensed online sports betting operators as of that time. FanDuel is only the third to launch online betting.
BetMGM became the territory’s first legal online sportsbook in June 2023 when it extended its partnership with Casino del Mar at La Concha Resort into digital betting. Caesars, which already hosted the Caesars Sportsbook at Casino Metro since 2022, launched the Caesars Sportsbook app a month after BetMGM went live.
DraftKings also has market access in Puerto Rico but is yet to start taking online wagers on the Caribbean island.
FanDuel’s latest new US market
Already ubiquitous in the U.S. online sports betting market, FanDuel has expanded its presence with multiple new market launches in the last 12 months.
It went live in North Carolina after that state opened its doors in March 2024 and took over D.C.’s district-wide online sports betting monopoly in April from previous operator GambetDC before that market was opened up to other operators in the summer.
The operator is one of many that is sure to jump into the Missouri market whenever it opens in 2025 after voters approved online wagering in the November elections.
At an earnings call in November, Flutter reported that FanDuel’s combined online sports betting and online casino saw average monthly players grow by 28% in Q3 2024 year-over-year, while revenue shot up 51%.
As of Q3 2024, FanDuel Sportsbook held a gross gaming revenue market share of 41%.
