Underdog Fantasy is being recognized for its rapid growth as a gaming startup.

LinkedIn has named Underdog to its Top 50 Startups List, making the daily fantasy and sports betting operator the only sports gaming company to receive the coveted honor.

“Underdog was founded with innovation at its core, and we have a relentless focus on one mission: build new products that make sports more fun for fans, and we are building faster and faster every day,” said Underdog founder and CEO Jeremy Levine. “We are extremely proud of what we have built and this recognition from LinkedIn is a testament to the work put in by everyone at Underdog.”

The DFS and sports betting company was named to LinkedIn’s list after an evaluation of data regarding four categories: employment growth, jobseeker interest, member engagement within the company and its active workforce and incoming talent.

Underdog was named to LinkedIn’s list for the second consecutive year with the company closing at the No. 15 spot in 2024. It is also the only gaming brand to ever make the list.

Other companies featured in LinkedIn’s Top 50 List include software developer Rinsed, mental health care company Grow Therapy and AI-powered search engine Perplexity.

Perplexity, based in California with a workforce of 100 employees, finished No. 1.

Underdog Fantasy continues to grow

LinkedIn awarded Underdog with its recognition as the company rapidly expands its reach.

Earlier this year, the gaming company launched Underdog Sportsbook in North Carolina marking its first foray into regulated online wagering. Underdog took advantage of the Tar Heel State opening its gaming market to retail and online operators in March.

Underdog has also provided its DFS players with more offerings following the expansion of Pick’em Champions, a peer-to-peer contest. In April, Underdog launched Champions in Florida after contentious discussions with the Florida Gaming Control Commission after the commission questioned the legality of the player prop-style contest.

Earlier this month, Underdog delivered Champions to players across Arizona after the state’s Department of Gaming sent a letter in 2023 stating pick’em-style contests failed to comply with regulations despite the regulator approving Underdog’s contest a year prior.

As of September 2024, Champions is available to Underdog players in 14 states.
