Fanatics Betting and Gaming now has a retail presence in New Jersey’s sports betting market just in time for the new NFL season.
Fanatics officially opened the Fanatics Sportsbook at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City to the public on Thursday, Sept. 5
The location will offer legal betting markets for all major sports including professional and college football, basketball, hockey, baseball, tennis, soccer, golf, MMA and boxing.
It adds to Fanatics’ presence in the Garden State after the company launched its Fanatics Sportsbook and Casino app in the state in May.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming Chief Business Officer Ari Borod called the opening, “an exciting day in our company’s continuous evolution.”
“As Fanatics grows its gaming presence in New Jersey, Ocean represents the perfect partner to deliver an elevated retail sports betting experience at the premier hotel in Atlantic City,” Borod added.
“Fanatics boasts an unmatched roster of the world’s most renowned sports leagues, teams, and global brands and we are excited to present these to our guests here at Ocean,” said Ocean Casino Resort General Manager Bill Callahan.
The Fanatics Sportsbook is a featured attraction in The Gallery, which is a 100-foot elevated bar and lounge area with seating for 60 surrounded by slot machines, tables and 140 feet of LED walls. Customers can place wagers at betting windows or self-service terminals throughout the venue.
Fanatics endures slow start in New Jersey
In its first two months online in New Jersey, Fanatics has struggled to make a deep impact since taking over from PointsBet in the state.
Per New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement‘s monthly revenue figures, Fanatics’ numbers in its first month of May paled in comparison to its predecessor. PointsBet had consistently achieved a double-digit market share in New Jersey and reached as high as 31.6% of the market in April, good for second place in the state, with $32.9 million gross gaming revenue that month.
In May, under the Fanatics brand, that market share fell by 29% month-over-month to just 2.3% and $2 million in GGR.
By July, its betting revenue had climbed to $2.7 million of the state’s operators’ combined total of around $80 million.
Fanatics Sportsbook is now live in 22 U.S. states after launching in Louisiana last month through a partnership with the Boomtown Casino and Hotel.
