Genius Sports is teaming up with a social media giant to launch a product to accelerate ad spending.
The London-based sports data and technology company has partnered with X, formerly Twitter, to launch Trend Genius. The new technology uses real-time conversations to help advertisers identify where to allocate ad spending using X’s Ads and Trend APIs.
“As live events unfold on X, the Trend Genius product helps brands capture the unpredictable and dynamic trends that shape our world in real-time,” said X Head of Sales Americas Monique Pintarelli. “We’re excited to debut this product in partnership with Genius Sports, and help brands reach our unparalleled and passionate audience.”
Genius Sports is helping advertisers drive ad revenue on a social media app that has approximately 556 million active monthly users, according to Exploding Topics.
X helping Genius Sports grow
The launch of Trend Genius adds to a busy first half of the year for Genius Sports.
In February, the company agreed to a deal with Sports Information Services (SIS) to distribute its Competitive Gaming product. The product’s library provides access to more than 150,000 live events and is available to Genius Sports’ network of sportsbooks.
A month later, it was certified as a gaming-related contractor by the Wisconsin Division of Gaming. The certification marked the 50th license for Genius Sports in North America.
The company is also ensuring the protection of its products and clients as a new associate member of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA). The two entities are collaborating to ensure fair gaming by sharing global information on suspicious activity.
Genius Sports has a portfolio of clients in gaming that includes bet365, Flutter Entertainment, Entain, DraftKings, Caesars, and Kindred. The company has also worked to accelerate growth for Jersey Mike’s, Nissan, Puma, PepsiCo, and Pizza Hut.
In Q1 2024, Genius Sports generated $120 million in group revenue, a 23% increase year-over-year. The results exceeded the company’s expectations of $117 million in revenue.
Genius Sports projects full-year group revenue in 2024 to reach roughly $500 million.
