WagerWire is upgrading its sports gaming marketplace with a new feature.
The sports gaming technology company has officially launched the buying and selling of daily fantasy pick’em entries on its online platform. WagerWire has launched the feature on iOS and Google Play marking the first time DFS players can buy and sell entries through an app.
“This is a paradigm shifting moment for fantasy,” said WagerWire co-founder and CEO Zach Doctor. “This launch represents a way to bring more ownership and control over their entries. For the first time, there is a way to cash in on your lineups even if they go on to lose by selling it to a friend or on the open market. The excitement is palpable.”
The ability to buy and sell DFS pick’em entries is the result of a partnership between WagerWire and RealTime Fantasy Sports. Earlier this year, the two companies teamed up to announce the development of the first-ever DFS pick’em entry trading marketplace.
During the 2023 NFL playoffs, WagerWire saw 12% of entries sold on the secondary market. Its deal with RealTime also includes delivering daily content and media.
WagerWire secures investment
The buying and selling of pick’em entries enhances a robust portfolio of fantasy and sports betting offerings from WagerWire, which include stat tracking and a bet value calculator.
The California-based company closed a $3 million seed funding round in 2022 led by Eberg Capital Managing Partner Roger Ehrenberg. The round also included Full Moon Sports Solutions, Sports Meta, and Betr CEO Joey Levy’s VC fund 305 Ventures.
Since the injection of fresh capital, WagerWire has secured affiliate and media deals with BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel, Hard Rock Bet, and SuperBook.
