Fanatics Sportsbook is leveraging its new market access in North Carolina for a unique sponsorship.
The emerging operator has been named the title sponsor of the PPA Tour North Carolina Cup, which features some of the best pickleball players in the world. The new PPA Tour Fanatics Sportsbook North Carolina Cup will be held April 1-7 in Cary, North Carolina.
“We are excited to sponsor the PPA Tour’s North Carolina Cup,” said Fanatics Betting & Gaming CBO Ari Borod. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and with the best pickleball athletes in the world coming to North Carolina, we can be a part of it in a big way.”
The PPA Tour Cup, which will be held at Cary Tennis Park, is poised to provide exposure for Fanatics as it continues to expand its reach as an operator. It will include the No. 1 men’s and women’s pro pickleball players with coverage on Amazon Prime Video, ESPN2, and Pickleballtv. Amateur pickleball players will also be able to get in on the action with Fanatics providing a tournament for all ages and skills during the event.
New markets for Fanatics Sportsbook.
On March 11, North Carolina went live with online sports betting after Gov. Roy Cooper signed House Bill 347 into law. Fanatics was one of eight operators to debut in the Tar Heel State along with bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, FanDuel, and Underdog.
Fanatics landed a partnership with the Carolina Hurricanes for access in North Carolina. The state requires licensed operators to partner with a pro sports team, venue, or league.
Fanatics has also recently launched online operations in Arizona and Kansas as part of its $225 million takeover of PointsBet’s U.S. business. Fanatics has yet to complete the full transition from PointsBet in three states: Louisiana, Wyoming, and New Jersey.
