FanDuel is taking steps to improve financial literacy.
America’s largest online sports betting operator has announced a partnership with Operation HOPE, a non-profit that aims to advance economic opportunity. As part of the pact, FanDuel and Operation HOPE will work together to offer free financial counseling to Massachusetts residents through financial well-being coaches. The three coaches, who are throughout the Bay State, provide individuals who take advantage of the services with tools and educational resources to improve credit scores, decrease debt, and build savings.
“Operation HOPE’s work has demonstrated that when individuals have a strong foundation of financial literacy, they are better equipped to manage their spending responsibly,” said FanDuel President Christian Genetski. “FanDuel is committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate, and we believe that supporting proven financial literacy programs is a natural extension of our work to promote and empower responsible gaming.”
FanDuel has also announced that it will be releasing content to promote financial literacy and its partnership with Operation HOPE, including a national video campaign that will be shared across social media. In Massachusetts, FanDuel will also campaign through radio and digital OOH.
The campaign is sure to add to the more than 4 million individuals Operation HOPE has served since its launch in 1992. The non-profit has directed more than $3.2 million in economic activity into underserved communities.
FanDuel starts new year by giving back
Earlier this week, FanDuel vowed to donate $1 million to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The UNCF, which has raised more than $6 billion since its inception in 1944, fosters college students through their journey to become graduates. FanDuel’s donation will support 10 students at HBCUs throughout Ohio as the state celebrates one year as a regulated sports betting market. FanDuel has made previous donations to the UNCF to support students in Virginia and Maryland. It will also recruit UNCF students for its internship program.
