A little over a year and a half after inking its first sports betting partnership deal with BetMGM, the NHL is extending the pairing for several more years. BetMGM was the league’s first sports betting partner in the US alongside FanDuel. That deal later expanded into Canada. The new deal will extend that partnership as well as the gaming partnership on the casino side of MGM’s business.

“Our partnership extension with the NHL enables us to enhance the BetMGM product and offer fans unforgettable entertainment built around the game they love,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “The NHL is more thrilling than ever – a symphony of athleticism, teamwork, and skill on skates. We look forward to bringing our customers exceptional live experiences and new content.”

“We are thrilled about our partnership extension with BetMGM,” added Jason Jazayeri, NHL Vice President, Business Development. “The evolution of our partnership with BetMGM will focus on building unique and compelling fan experiences, as well as event activation and media programming all with an eye towards delivering exciting new ways for our fans to interact and engage with the sport they love.”

The news comes just weeks after BetMGM online casino announced the debut of the first NHL-endorsed online slot. The game, NHL Gold Blitz, rolled out in New Jersey earlier this month. While the slot is new, NHL-branded table games have been a feature of BetMGM online casino for over a year.

The deal will also include a responsible gambling element with both groups part of the American Gaming Association’s Have a Game Plan program. BetMGM also integrates the BCLC’s GameSense program into all of its online products.
