During a busy New York State Gaming Commission meeting, the regulators formally approved Fanatics Sportsbook to assume the operating license that previously was in the name of PointsBet.

Regulators took some time to investigate and vet Fanatics Betting and Gaming’s acquisition of PointsBet once the sale was finalized in August. NYSGC staffers reported back favorably to commissioners on Tuesday and the group approved Fanatics for operation.

After the approval, Fanatics Sportsbook issued the following statement:

“Today, the New York State Gaming Commission approved Fanatics Betting and Gaming’s acquisition of PointsBet New York LLC.  We would like to thank the commissioners and staff of the New York State Gaming Commission for their time and effort in delivering us some great news today.  We look forward to working with the staff of the New York State Gaming Commission to bring the Fanatics Sportsbook to the largest sports wagering state in the US.”

Currently, New York is a state where only PointsBet Sportsbook is operational. Starting this fall, several states switched over the PointsBet brand to PointsBet, a Fanatic Experience. The app is the PointsBet product just reskinned with Fanatics branding. That is likely what will happen in New York.

The Fanatics Sportsbook app is on the Amelco platform but the operator is working to integrate the Banach Technology pricing mechanism acquired from PointsBet into the app and later make the formal switch to Fanatics in New York and the six other states currently offering PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience.
