DraftKings has signed a partnership with mental health service provider Kindbridge Behavioral Health to deliver enhanced problem gambling support for players in Colorado

From October, Kindbridge clinicians will provide complimentary support to players who choose to self-exclude from the DraftKings app.

Clinicians will provide a comprehensive mental health assessment and offer personalized care plans tailored to each individual’s needs and habits.

The partnership is designed to “ensure that players who may be facing problem gambling-related challenges have direct access to critical resources”.

“At Kindbridge, we are committed to making a positive impact on individuals affected by gambling disorder,” said Daniel Umfleet, CEO of Kindbridge Behavioral Health.

“Our collaboration with DraftKings is a significant step forward in delivering timely and comprehensive care to those who need it most. By combining our expertise in behavioral health with DraftKings’ reach and influence, we can help at-risk players on their necessary journey toward recovery.”

It comes as part of DraftKings’ strategy to promote responsible gambling across its player base and offer support to those who need it. Typically sports betting operators will provide tools such as deposit limits and self-exclusion lists, but this marks a rare occasion when a sportsbook offers mental health support to its customers.

Meanwhile, DraftKings is aiming to gain insights to inform future research into problem gambling treatment outcomes for those who suffer sports betting-related harm.

Jennifer Aguiar, Chief Compliance Officer at DraftKings, also shared her perspective on this vital initiative: “Our commitment to responsible gaming is unwavering. This collaboration with Kindbridge Behavioral Health allows us to provide direct access to care for our players who may be experiencing challenges related to gaming.

“We want to ensure they receive the support they need to make informed decisions and seek help when necessary.”
