Elys Game Technology has put pen to paper on a deal that would see it operate a retail sportsbook at The Ugly Mug restaurant and bar in Washington DC.

Expanding upon its retail footprint in the nation’s capital, Elys is committed to supporting local and small businesses by operating licensed sportsbooks.

Still subject to regulatory approvals, the partnership with The Ugly Mug would be the eighth sportsbook that Elys would operate in Washington DC as it continues to roll out its retail solution.

As well as rolling out seven retail sportsbooks, Elys has proposed a joint venture with District Hospitality at the Ozio Lounge named BetDupont. It also secured DC Department of Small & Local Business Development for the BetDupont JV.

The Ugly Mug is located just 10 blocks away from the National Stadium and is also close to Capitol Hill, making it a prime location for pedestrian traffic.

“We are delighted to partner with Gaynor Jablonski and his team to operate a sportsbook at The Ugly Mug restaurant and bar conveniently located only blocks from Nationals Stadium in Washington, DC,” stated Michele Ciavarella, Elys Executive Chairman.

“By fostering partnerships in local establishments such as The Ugly Mug, Elys brings together vibrant environments with a professionally managed sports betting enterprise. This combination can connect fans and friends together to revel in sports events while enjoying a meal and beverage.

“We firmly believe that this successful combination can contribute economic benefits to small business entrepreneurs across the nation and boost resources for state and local amenities and infrastructure.”

As well as a building presence in Washington DC, Elys entered the retail sports betting market in Ohio when it launched in January.
