Betsson Group has opened a new Latin American center in Bogota, Colombia, as part of the online sports betting and casino operator’s plans for “progressive growth” in the region.

The opening event of the new operations center was attended by various outlets across the media, private, and public sectors including Fecoljuegos – the Colombian Federation of Entrepreneurs of Games of Luck and Chance.

“Latin America is a special region for us, so I am especially happy about the opening of this operations center in Bogota,” commented Jesper Svenson, CEO of Betsson Group.

“I am confident that, thanks to the talent present in the company, we will continue our progressive growth in the region and contribute to the development of an industry based on responsible entertainment.”

Back in October, Betsson brought attention to its growth in Latin America during its Q3 report, declaring the measuring period its “best quarter ever, driven by both sports and casino”.

Per region, the operator produced $38.9m in Q3 Latin America revenue, but it was the group’s Central and Eastern European and Central Asia operations that led the way with $79m, followed by the Nordics ($54m), Western Europe ($25m), and the Rest of the World ($3.9m).

Latin America’s $38.9m in revenue was a growth of 58.9% YoY (2021: $24.5m) with all countries in the region declaring YoY revenue growth thanks to “a strong underlying activity where deposits, active customers, turnover in both casino and sportsbook grew”.

Evert Montero Cardenas, President of Fecoljuegos, added: “For Fecoljuegos, it is an honor to have as an affiliate one of the most important betting houses in the world.

“We feel pleased with the contribution of Betsson in Colombia, and we consider that the opening of its operations center in the national territory shows once again its support to the gaming industry which, through Fecoljuegos, works to have a more competitive sector and which provides the right conditions for its further development.

“We identify with and applaud their proposal to promote actions of fair play, mutual support, teamwork, and responsibility, which adds value to the activity of Betsson Group in the country.”

Betsson is spread across Latin America with online gaming and betting services in several countries including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.

The operator is also the official sponsor of the professional soccer league in Peru and the women’s and men’s CONMEBOL Copa America.
