Paysafe has confirmed the appointment of Alex Gersh as its new Chief Financial Officer, joining the company on October 3.

Reporting to CEO, Bruce Lowthers, Gersh joins Paysafe from Sportradar where he led the company’s IPO onto NASDAQ last year and built a ‘high performing finance function’.

Elsewhere in his 25+ year career in international financial leadership, Gersh spent six years at Irish operator Paddy Power, where he served as CFO and Board Director following its merger with Betfair

Lowthers noted: “Alex is a highly talented finance executive with a proven track record of driving growth for the international companies he has helped to lead. I know he will be a real asset to our team as we continue our path to accelerate growth and drive long-term value for all our stakeholders.”

Prior to his time in online betting, Gersh spent nearly eight years as the CFO for NDS Group London, a digital pay TV software firm. Other financial leadership roles in his career have come in the telecommunications industry, with BT and Motorola.

Gersh commented on his new role: “Paysafe has a highly diversified and relevant digital payments offering in the specialized industries it focuses on including gaming and entertainment.

“I have been fortunate to have worked for some of the biggest brands in these sectors and I very much look forward to bringing my knowledge and insights to my new role at Paysafe and being part of this ambitious company’s future growth story.”

Gersh comes into the role replacing Izzy Dawood, who has announced his departure from Paysafe later this year.
This appointment comes shortly after Paysafe confirmed the appointment of its first-ever Chief Revenue Officer, Rob Gatto.
