IBIA CEO ties sports betting opportunities to quality market frameworks

“There are plenty of opportunities for the gaming industry, so long as the correct sports betting market framework is in place.” – Khalid Ali

International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) CEO Khalid Ali offered his thoughts about the upcoming SBC Summit North America event:

What makes SBC Summit North America stand out as an event?

SBC has done a tremendous job of creating an event that feels digestible in size, unique in the events and speakers, and draws the right members of organizations that allow for real work to get done. As in years past, I look forward to seeing how the industry is progressing in the market and catching up with customers we just do not get to see often enough.

What would you highlight as the biggest opportunity in the US gaming industry over the next couple of years?

The market in the US is young and dynamic. There are plenty of opportunities for the gaming industry, so long as the correct sports betting market framework is in place. Specifically, this means operators having access to a wide product offering, no overly burdensome taxation, and the right betting integrity protocols.

What industry innovation will capture the most attention in the next 12 months?

Perhaps not an innovation but an area frequently overlooked is pricing. Operators who want to differentiate themselves from their competitors and drive customer engagement should be considering expert pricing and risk management as a solution.

What core challenges do you help solve for your customers/partners?

We are a not-for-profit integrity body that was created by the betting industry as a conduit to share information about suspicious betting patterns between operators and the relevant stakeholders. We currently represent almost 50% of the regulated online betting market, with a combined turnover of $137 billion. As more jurisdictions require operators to be part of an integrity body, we are well placed to fulfill those needs having established ourselves in almost all the states or provinces that make this a requirement.

Who have you especially enjoyed working with over the past year (partner/client)?

We work with a range of stakeholders and have built longstanding relationships with the like of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), FIFA, UEFA, and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

You can find Ali, the rest of the IBIA team, and plenty of new contacts Thursday in the exhibition area. IBIA will be hosting a complimentary networking and drinks session from 4:30pm-5:30pm.
