Hard Rock Bet is entering Michigan’s online gaming market with the backing of a federally recognized tribe that previously partnered with two other operators in the state.

On Tuesday, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) approved Hard Rock Bet as an online casino and sports betting provider through a market access agreement with the Hannahville Indian Community, the operator of Michigan’s Island Resort & Casino.

A new partner for the Hannahville Indian Community

The market access deal provides the Hannahville Indian Community with its third operator partner after previously securing partnerships with 888 Holdings and Churchill Downs’ TwinSpires brand. The Hannahville Indian Community ended its partnership with 888 Holdings after the company shuttered SI Sportsbook and Casino and exited the U.S.

The Hannahville Indian Community’s partnership with TwinSpires dissolved after the company announced the closing of its online sportsbook and casino. Churchill Downs’ shuttered the operations to focus on horse racing in a competitive gaming market. TwinSpires currently offers advance deposit wagering, which has caused legal woes.

New market for Hard Rock Bet

Hard Rock Bet launched online wagering in Michigan on Tuesday after completing the MGCB’s licensing requirements, which included game, supplier and vendor approvals. The operator was also required to submit all fees and undergo an evaluation of internal controls.

“This approval reflects our continued focus on maintaining integrity, transparency, and consumer protection in Michigan’s online gaming and sports betting space,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams. “We look forward to seeing the Hannahville Indian Community and Hard Rock provide a safe, responsible, and enjoyable wagering experience for players across the state—and especially for those served by one of Michigan’s long-standing tribal gaming operators in the Upper Peninsula.”

Hard Rock kicked off its debut in Michigan with a new marketing campaign shared across TV, radio and digital channels. It is providing Michigan players with access to its global loyalty program and weekly rewards that are also offered in markets outside of Michigan.

“This expansion represents a major milestone for Hard Rock Bet and reinforces our ascent as one of the fastest-growing digital gaming brands in the United States,” said Hard Rock Digital CEO Marlon Goldstein. “Our launch in Michigan builds on our momentum as we bring the legendary Hard Rock experience to more fans across the country, offering a trusted online casino and sportsbook on our top-rated and easy-to-use platform.”

The Wolverine State marks Hard Rock Bet’s 10th regulated gaming market.

In July, Hard Rock Bet launched online sports betting in Colorado through a market access deal with Johnny Nolon’s Casino. Hard Rock was the first sportsbook to make its debut in Colorado since January 2024. As of December 2025, Colorado is home to 14 sportsbooks.
