PrizePicks is enhancing its product with the launch of a feature that fosters engagement.
The Atlanta-based daily fantasy sports operator announced on Thursday the debut of The Feed, a social tool that allows users to interact with one another in real time. The Feed is integrated into the PrizePicks app and provides users with the opportunity to see and interact with picks made by other users of the DFS platform.
“We’re advancing the daily fantasy sports world forward into its next phase, blending how fans socialize online with how they root for their favorite players on gameday,” said PrizePicks SVP of Product Dylan Cooper. “These social features create an interactive experience that allows players to build lineups, ride with their favorite celebrities and flex their knowledge with their friends, all within the PrizePicks app.”
PrizePicks is delivering a social feed to its users that allows the creation of personal profiles that are searchable and can showcase lifetime stats. PrizePicks users can follow one another and copy or react to lineups that are submitted by friends, celebrities or other public profiles. The Feed also allows users to share their lineups across social media.
The feature leverages machine learning to provide a personalized experience.
New ownership for PrizePicks
PrizePicks is bolstering its suite of products after European lottery firm Allwyn agreed to acquire a 62.3% stake in the DFS giant. The transaction includes an initial cash payment of $1.6 billion. If certain performance benchmarks are met, additional cash compensation may be included in the deal. PrizePicks acquired a new majority owner but will continue to operate as a standalone brand. It will also continue to be led by CEO Mike Ybarra.
Allwyn’s stake in PrizePicks gives the DFS platform an implied total valuation of $2.5 billion.
In addition to PrizePicks, Allwyn’s North American footprint is supported by its presence in Illinois as a supplier of the state’s lottery. The Switzerland-based company also owns an ownership stake in Kaizen Gaming, which operates the Betano brand in Ontario.
