Rush Street Interactive (RSI) secured a deal with an emerging player in cryptocurrency.
The online sports betting and casino giant landed a pact with crypto payment solutions provider BurraPay, allowing BetRivers customers to fund their accounts with the digital currency. The deal allows BurraPay to integrate its product directly into BetRivers, with crypto funding being rolled out on a market-by-market basis pending regulatory approvals.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rush Street Interactive as our first U.S. customer,” said BurraPay CTO Luke Millanta. “This agreement is a milestone for both companies—and for the industry as a whole as it proves that cryptocurrency payments can be delivered in a compliant, player-friendly and scalable way.
BurraPay provides RSI with access to a crypto payments company that adheres to state and federal compliance standards. BurraPay is registered with the U.S Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network as a Money Services Business.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded BurraPay two patents, giving the company “exclusive rights over the regulatory compliant use of operator-controlled digital currency wallets across both land-based and online casinos, including sportsbook operations.” The patents allow BurraPay to partner with operators across America while adhering to anti-money laundering and know your customer standards.
RSI is collaborating with BurraPay after appointing former Warner Bros. Discovery executive Shubham Tyagi as its new CTO last month.
“Rush Street Interactive has always been an innovator in online gaming, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner to showcase what BurraPay can do,” continued Millanta.
SBC Americas reached out to RSI to determine whether the deal includes certain markets or all states where RSI operates but has not received a response at the time of publication.
BurraPay’s recent expansion
BurraPay’s partnership with RSI solidifies a footprint in North America for the crypto payments solutions company that is also a partner of Cananda’s Bragg Gaming Group.
Last month, BurraPay and Bragg Gaming reached a deal to integrate BurraPay into Bragg Gaming’s player account management and content delivery products. The partnership also includes Bragg Gaming’s tribal gaming partners, expanding BurraPay’s reach in gaming.
BurraPay also recently bolstered its advising team, adding former Nevada Gaming Control Board member Phil Katsaros as a strategic advisor of regulatory affairs. Veteran gaming executive Kent Young also recently joined BurraPay as a strategic advisor.
