The social casino market in the U.S. has another player, as Legendz has launched social gaming and sportsbook operations in 43 states.

Available in both English and Spanish, Legendz will offer a social casino and sweepstakes platform featuring a large range of free-to-play games, including hundreds of slot and live table games. The company claims to offer the highest return to player in the social casino market and gives users the chance to redeem winnings for real prizes. Players also receive a free daily reward for visiting the site each day.

On the sportsbook side, it provides its users with a full slate of straight bets, props, parlays and other markets across multiple sports.

“With a full suite of slots, live casino and sportsbook as well as some unique features that we’ll be rolling out over the next few months, we think our guests will find a social gaming experience they can’t get anywhere else,” said Co-Founder Henrik Persson Ekdahl.

“Legendz is introducing a groundbreaking approach to rewarding loyal users and retaining its players with its unique daily reward slot game. The game will offer a chance to win hundreds of free Sweeps Coins every single day. We’re transforming traditional rewards into an engaging experience, staying true to our core value: delivering entertainment at its finest,” added Managing Director Charlie McMaw.

Social sweeps legality debate continues

Legendz’s entry into every U.S. state that allows sweepstakes casino to operate comes as the debate around their legality continues. Notably it is not available in Idaho, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio or Washington.

Michigan, Delaware and Connecticut have issued cease-and-desist orders to numerous social casino sites in recent months. First Michigan and then Connecticut were successful in forcing prominent operator Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) out this fall after alleging the Australian company had been conducting unlicensed gambling in violation of state law and fair trade practices.

The American Gaming Association went as far as to issue a memo in August calling for a stronger crackdown on sweepstakes offerings and urging state attorney generals and regulators to take enforcement action if necessary.

In response, several leading social and sweepstakes gaming operators banded together to launch the Social and Promotional Gaming Association. Meanwhile, Google is set to boost social casino mobile apps’ prominence by beginning to allow them to customize and tailor their advertisements starting next month.
