Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) is partnering with a student-athlete to educate young people about problem gambling and sports betting-related issues.

The Nevada-based consultancy company has announced a partnership with University of Kansas tight end DeShawn Hanika to educate young athletes, coaches, and team personnel about threats to the integrity of sports and problem gambling behaviors. IC360 will provide education through its Gambling Awareness and Sports Integrity Program, which is designed to promote a safe, fair, and competitive sports environment.

Hanika has been given the opportunity to collaborate with ICE360 after the former Iowa State Cyclone was suspended for the entire 2023 season after being charged with tampering with records in a case related to a sports betting investigation on campus.

The redshirt senior, who joined over 10 other athletes implicated in the probe, was alleged to have placed more than 250 wagers with 70 on Iowa State men’s basketball.

NCAA rules ban student-athletes from wagering on any sport sanctioned by the organization.

“This partnership with IC360 is a chance to turn my experience into a valuable lesson for others,” said Hanika. “Some student-athletes might believe that betting on separate sports poses no risk, but my wake-up call can be a crucial educational moment to help others understand what’s at stake and prevent similar pitfalls.”

Hanika had his case dismissed after the State of Iowa failed to indict him in a timely manner. The state did not meet the 45-day window to indict Hanika after he waived a preliminary trial. Iowa missed the deadline to indict Hanika by four days.

The company’s pact with Hanika builds on a previous commitment to student-athletes.

ICE360 secured a deal in June with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to deliver data insights and provide access to its monitoring technology to each member institution.

ACC institutions also have the opportunity to opt in to receive educational services from ICE360 and access to its ProhiBet platform, which is designed to hinder student-athletes, coaches, and team personnel from participating in prohibited gambling activities.
