BetMGM has introduced the latest title in AGS‘ suite of Rakin’ Bacon slot games in Michigan.
The betting giant and the gaming provider each announced the omnichannel launch of Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey on BetMGM’s digital channels in the Wolverine State. The game will also be available to play on slot machines at the MGM Grand Detroit casino.
Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey is the latest title in AGS’ popular Rakin’ Bacon series. The game developer released the original title back in 2018 and has since expanded Cornsquealius, the golden pig who is the protagonist of the game, to an additional five titles. As classical history buffs may guess from the name, Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey sees Cornsquealius head to ancient Greece.
“Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey is a fantastic example of BetMGM’s omnichannel advantage,” said Oliver Bartlett, vice president of gaming product and content, BetMGM. “We are incredibly proud to be the exclusive online home of the newest version of this popular game in Michigan which has proven to be the top state for iGaming.”
BetMGM and AGS say the new game features 7,776 ways to win and has four jackpots that can be won either online or at MGM Grand Detroit.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey in Michigan with BetMGM, a pivotal expansion for our iconic ‘golden pig’,” said Zoe Ebling, AGS VP of interactive. “This launch underscores AGS’s unique position as a premier provider spearheading the omnichannel experience.
“Our commitment to seamless, cross-platform gameplay sets us apart in the industry, allowing us to offer extraordinary gaming experiences that bridge the gap between land-based and online venues. By partnering with BetMGM, we’re not just following industry trends — we’re creating them and setting the gold standard in omnichannel innovation. This initiative represents a major leap forward in connecting with players in innovative ways and demonstrates our leadership in transforming the gaming landscape.”
AGS says it has installed more than 3,100 Rakin’ Bacon games across the world to date.
Meanwhile, BetMGM added in its release this week that Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey is the latest step in its bid to provide a seamless omnichannel experience. The company recently debuted its first custom online slot experience, MGM Riches, that is available on its digital channels as well as at MGM Resorts properties throughout the U.S. Meanwhile, Evolution Gaming’s Dual Play Roulette offering is available both via BetMGM online and at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in New Jersey.
BetMGM looking for year of consolidation
Speaking of New Jersey, at SBC Summit North America earlier this month, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt told CNBC’s Contessa Brewer that the company is expecting to continue a “radio quiet” year.
“Part of the reason for not radio silence but radio quiet is because 2024 is the year that BetMGM reestablishes our momentum and there are three parts to our strategy for the year: continuing our journey to best product, there is marketing share of voice and marketing efficiency,” he explained.
Continuing and expanding its omnichannel online casino experience through titles such as Rakin’ Bacon Odyssey will be an important component of that quest.
AGS to go private
AGS announced two weeks ago that it has agreed to “definitive terms” to be taken over by the private equity fund of Brightstar Capital Partners.
The company, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, confirmed that its Board of Directors has unanimously approved the agreement and recommended that its stockholders approve it. If it gains that approval, the deal is expected to close in the second half of next year.
AGS President and CEO David Lopez noted that the addition of Brightstar’s resources and strategic guidance will position AGS to make “targeted investments” in R&D, talent, operations and innovation.
