Over a year after inking a partnership with Black Hawk, CO casino Wild Card Saloon and Casino, ClutchBet is launching its online sportsbook in the Centennial State. It is the second market for the brand after it launched in Iowa last summer.
The Australian-based company BlueBet has more sites on the horizon for 2023 with market access deals set up in both Louisiana and Indiana.
“We are excited to go live in Colorado, our second US state. It’s a homecoming for us, with ClutchBet’s headquarters located in downtown Denver,” said BlueBet CEO Bill Richmond. “We’re really pleased with our progress in the US, as we move towards the next stage of our ‘Capital Lite’ US market entry strategy. Our US team has worked hard to deliver a memorable betting experience for our US Customers, who have responded strongly to our differentiated brand, with initial uptake very encouraging.”
It is difficult to gauge exactly how successful ClutchBet has been in Iowa so far, as its revenue is reported in a combined amount with Q Sportsbook, the other sportsbook on the Q Casino Iowa license. Comparing year-over-year data, handle on the license is roughly flat YoY.
When the partnership between BlueBet and Wild Card was announced in January 2022, the release noted a launch planned for March of that year. Instead, launch came a full 13 months later.
“The multijurisdictional capability of our scalable proprietary technology platform enables us to expand faster in the US and to progress our B2B Sportsbook-as-a-Solution offer, which is attracting interest from potential partners,” Richmond added.
In other words, ClutchBet may be consumer-facing, but BlueBet’s aspirations in the US is geared towards a B2B play down the road and has been open about this trajectory from the jump.
