Fanatics Betting & Gaming has confirmed the appointment of Hank Couture as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) as it seeks to build a presence in the US sports betting market.

In his new role, Couture will act as a member of the FBG executive team and will be responsible for developing strategies across operations for the Fanatics Sportsbook venture.

Set for a nationwide rollout in mid-2023, Fanatics Sportsbook already has one open retail sportsbook, at the FedEx Field becoming the first retail sportsbook inside an NFL stadium.

Meanwhile, the firm is in the beta stage of its mobile app in Tennessee but there is no update on when the app will go live for all players. Its sportsbook technology provider is Amelco, which will also provide its player account management system, though Fanatics is set to make tweaks to the platform.

Couture will help in Fanatics’ mission to roll out sports betting and will report to CEO Matt King in his role.

“We are excited to add Hank to our leadership team as COO,” explained CEO King.

“Hank’s experience in building one of the largest marketplaces in the US is exactly the type of person we are looking for at Fanatics Betting and Gaming, and as our new COO, his impressive track record of success will provide us with valuable insight as we build a sportsbook that is easy to use, trustworthy and more rewarding for sports fans.”

Couture joins Fanatics from DoorDash, a tech firm that brings local businesses to customers across 27 countries. Serving as VP, he oversaw DoorDash’s US marketplace and helped to build the cornerstones of its success including the pricing, loyalty programs, promotions, merchandising, and growth.

Previously in his career, Couture spent time at Goldman Sachs, where he served on the equity trading floors in the Derivatives Structuring department.

This experience, Fanatics has stated, puts him in a prime position to spearhead Fanatics Sportsbooks’ rollout across the US from the ground up.
