Flutter Entertainment has revealed two upcoming changes to its executive team, announcing Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson will join the company as CFO and Executive Director, with current CFO Jonathan Hill becoming the group’s new COO.

The changes will take place in the first half of 2023, with Hill continuing in his current CFO role until Edgecliffe-Johnson starts. The two will collaborate to make sure the transition of responsibilities is as smooth as possible.

Currently Chief Financial Officer and Group Head of Strategy at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Edgecliffe-Johnson brings 25 years of finance and international business experience to Flutter. He has also worked as an Associate Director, Corporate Finance at HSBC.

“I am delighted that Paul will join us next year as Group CFO,” commented Peter Jackson, CEO of Flutter Entertainment.

“I am confident that his highly relevant skills and experience will help us to take advantage of the significant opportunities before us and will be invaluable as we continue to execute our strategy.”

Once Edgecliffe-Johnson arrives, Hill will then leave the board and take up the newly created Executive Committee role of COO to help “maximize the benefits of Flutter’s global scale and support the strategic direction of the business”.

Flutter added that Hill’s knowledge of business and shaping the company’s strategy has placed him in a unique position to succeed in the new position.

Jackson stated: “I also wish to acknowledge Jonathan for all he has done for Flutter to date and I am very pleased that the Group will continue to benefit from his experience in establishing the new COO function.”

Gary McGann, Chair at Flutter, added: “The Board welcomes the appointment of a quality executive such as Paul and looks forward to working with him and the team into the future, and I look forward to continuing to work with Jonathan in his new role.”
