California Tribes To Mobile Sportsbook Operators: Better Luck Next Time
If there is anything that both California’s tribes and the mobile operators hoping to run sports betting in the state agree on, it’s that the last few months have been filled with “misleading” and sometimes “reprehensible” advertising. The final result appears to be that both the retail, tribal-only Proposition 26 and the digital, commercial Proposition 27 will fail spectacularly when California voters go to the polls on Nov. 8.

Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin Targets January For Company’s Sports Betting Launch
Less than a week after reports surfaced that ESPN may be close to entering the U.S. legal sports betting waters, Fanatics made news regarding its own sports betting plans on Tuesday.
Speaking at the CAA World Congress of Sports in New York, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin announced that the company will launch its new sports betting division early next year, in January 2023. The entry of Fanatics into the U.S. sports betting industry will coincide with the NFL playoffs, giving the prominent sports merchandiser ample opportunity to test whether customers will mix multi-leg parlays with the jersey of their choice.

Ontarians Wager $6 Billion (CAD) Across Mobile Sports, Casino, Poker In Q2
Gamblers in Ontario wagered more than $6 billion (CAD) and the market produced $267 million in total gaming revenue — from iCasino, online sports betting, and online poker — for the period of July 1-Sept. 30, according to the Fiscal Year Q2 report released by iGaming Ontario on Wednesday. (As of Oct. 12, $1 CAD is equal to $0.72 USD.)

Is The Sports Wagering World Ready For Esports?
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the sports wagering world was essentially short-circuited as professional and college sports leagues canceled games. With the notable exceptions of Belarusian soccer and Russian table tennis, actual markets for sporting events were few and far between.
Esports filled a portion of that void, with NASCAR drivers competing in a virtual racing league and popular multiplayer games such as League of Legends and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) being introduced to the sports betting community. More than two years later, however, the potential esports showed as an additional vertical to the sports wagering space has yet to be realized.

Parx Casino Fights Back In Court Against Skill Games Industry
The leading proponent and provider of so-called “skill games” has been very active on the legal front trying to counter Pennsylvania critics, and now the operator of the state’s biggest casino is reacting with its own litigation.
Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc., owner and operator of Parx Casino in Bucks County, filed a civil suit last Friday in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court against Pace-O-Matic Inc., the Georgia-based developer of the Pennsylvania Skill Games brand.
