Global sportsbook operator Tipico has made its debut in the US sports betting space this week with the news that it has received conditional approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to bring its mobile sports betting offer to the Garden State.

At launch, sports fans across New Jersey will be able to download the fast, secure and user-friendly new app to place bets across a wide variety of sports and teams.

The firm has established its US headquarters and operations in Hoboken where it has built a new and proprietary online sportsbook offering tailor-made for what it described as “the serious US bettor”. Wagering on live sports markets across the globe, with odds managed by its in-house trading team, will be available 24/7.

Adrian Vella, Managing Director of US Business, said: “At Tipico, we knew that New Jersey would be the perfect state for us to kick-start our business in the US because of its sophisticated mobile sports betting audience and mature regulatory and licensing environment.

“With an incredible pool of local talent in the New York metro area, we’re thrilled to establish our headquarters in Hoboken and continue expanding our team. We’ve dedicated significant time and energy to build a long-term foundation for the US market, and today marks an important milestone in that journey for Tipico.”

Joachim Baca, Group CEO, commented: “We are very excited to be expanding our mobile sportsbook offering to a new international market. At Tipico, we are truly passionate about enhancing the thrill of sport, bringing fans even closer to the game they love. Regulatory approval from the state of New Jersey is another significant step toward introducing US consumers to our unique sports betting platform.”
